The Cleaning was actually written in 2005. Since the main part of the story takes place in 2012, I had to concoct a reasonable scenario regarding the U.S. presidential election. I heard Mike Huckabee speak in 2005, and thought he would be a good candidate to win. Later on of course, he did not make it out of the field, so I had to rewrite. I would have never predicted that John McCain would have been the Republican nominee. However, I was right on about Hillary Clinton, but I honestly could have never predicted that Obama would be the Democratic nominee.

It took me an entire year of writing to complete The Cleaning. I really liked the Charles Reynolds character that evolved out of the story. He was not the main character when I started. I have solicited over 100 agents and publishers to represent/publish my book. Several were encouraging, but none thought it of sufficient quality. I hope that you enjoy it. Order two copies, I saved every rejection e-mail. I would love to publish them on my website. One of the comments from Libros International was that the title was "hopeless".

When Chars Reynolds, Miami investigative reporter, gets a hunch about an auto accident that claims the life of U.S. Senator Mike Robertson, he unwittingly puts himself on the hit list of two powerful organizations: the Chicago Mob and the Freedom Organization. Neither of which have little apprehension about "offing" someone who gets anywhere near the truth. "The Cleaning" begins almost a decade after Algiers Banger, a reclusive billionaire decided that his adopted country was headed toward cataclysmic bankruptcy and ruin. Disillusioned by decades of spineless and self-serving politicians, Banger had given up trying to influence politicians with reason and money. His solution was to form the Freedom Organization and embark on a project that would save the United States . The Matriculation Project team covertly recruited, trained and funded like-minded candidates to run for political office. Not long into developing this pipeline of candidates, Banger realized that even the best candidates, were not perfect. Marital affairs, minor crimes or other indiscretions were not uncommon. Therefore cleaning up their past was necessary. Banger was a principled man, but a firm believer that the ends justified the means, even if that meant murder. To say that the Freedom Organization's success had been remarkable would be an understatement. With the White House filled with MP candidates, Banger and his team were looking to the future when several unfortunate events began to occur.. And now, a Miami investigative reporter is unwittingly a threat to expose the Matriculation Project.
